Healing From Pornography Addiction

Healing Happens When You Bring The Spiritual and Clinical Knowledge Together with Compassion

recovery brainA proper understanding of how the addicted brain works are helpful for the recovery process.

When we take the clinical piece out of the equation, it leaves many people feeling frustrated and hopeless because they have been trying the spiritual road alone for so long.

They keep re-committing to their religious practices of daily scripture reading, prayers, etc., only to be frustrated again and again because of slips and relapses.

Addiction is a chronic brain disease that needs the appropriate medication (The Language of Recovery) and treatment to heal. Many Good Christian people around the world just don’t want to hear that.

They want to believe in immediate transformation and blame one of a lack of faith when change doesn’t come quickly.

Patience and Persistence

To unravel an addiction requires patience, persistence and regular practice of certain daily principles that have been shown to be effective in long-term change.

Repentance is a process; it’s to recognize you did something wrong; not that you’re a bad person.

Recently a man had all his church blessings restored after completing a grueling repentance process that lasted years. To get his church membership blessings restored, he had to sit in front of a body of men who questioned him on his repentance and recovery process.

At the end of the process, he stood up before the men and told them about the Treatment System. In as gentle a way as possible, he tried to explain to them how critical it is to become educated – truly educated on how this recovery process works.

The leader of this re-convening counsel called one of our counselors and said, “I have never heard such a testimonial of any treatment program.

What are you guys doing?

awareness of thoughts

Being aware of your thoughts, helps you manage them.

YES Clinics is a system. Educating you about the true nature of addiction and why it’s critical to living by certain principles every day. YES System teaches you how to watch your thoughts, understand where they come from and then what to do with them.

Most still do not realize that the thoughts that come to us aren’t the issue at all but what we choose to do with them is.

What is so unique about the YES Pornography Treatment System is that it combines spiritual knowledge with clinical knowledge in a way that no other system or program does.

In essence, the gospel and clinical knowledge come together so that it makes sense.

An ecclesiastical leader recent wrote the following:

I wholeheartedly have supported your wonderful book, “The Language of Recovery” and have used it many times with individuals who were struggling with pornography.

I have gained a practical testimony that many—once they learn more about how their brain works, and why it works the way it does as mortal beings, from your book—have been able to “step back” and better see how to use their agency to better take advantage of our Savior’s wonderful atonement. I have highly recommend your book to a number and know firsthand that many of them have been helped from implementing the principles in your book working with their good Bishops…I know, first hand, that your book has been an invaluable tool in assisting individuals and their Bishops in helping them see how, and believe that they could take advantage, of the process of repentance and our savior’s atonement.  For me, the word repentance is another word for “changing” and “learning” and your book has been a great help to many in their efforts to learn and to change.”

I have seen people truly change when certain things are put in place.

  • healing with compassion

    Healing porn addiction through compassion.

First, it is important to gain a proper understanding of how the human brain works and why pornography has such an impact.

  • Second, one is given clinical tools based on proven methods that help people change.
  • Third, one works hard at applying these tools through daily effort. You cannot sit around and expect change when all you do is ask.
  • You must work very, very hard and consistently.
  • Your higher power is the one that ultimately changes and heals.

No program or system is going to do that even though they might be critical to the process. The ultimate change comes from the Lord after one has done all they can. Then the quest is to continue with that process and endure to the end.
